Dr. Rajnish Sharma is the Vice Chancellor of Chitkara University – Himachal Pradesh. Formerly the Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs) at Chitkara University, Punjab, he played a pivotal role in aligning academic systems with the National Education Policy 2020. With a PhD in Electronic Science, he has authored nearly 100 Scopus indexed papers, a book, and holds over 10 patents, showcasing his commitment to pushing the boundaries of knowledge in RF Microelectronics and next-generation technologies.

  • Dr Sharma earned his PhD in January, 2002 from Kurukshetra University, Kurukshetra in the subject of Electronic Science while working on the thesis topic “Field emission studies in DLC Films grown by Saddle Field Fast Atom Beam Source”. He carried out all his research work at National Physical Laboratory, New Delhi.
  • Before PhD, Dr Sharma completed his Bachelors and Masters as well in the domain of Electronic Science from Kurukshetra University.
  • He has also completed basic courses in Python from EDX portal offered by trainers from Microsoft in 2016.
  • He possess an experience of around 3 months of working at Purdue University in his role of Visiting Scholar in 2016.
  • Dr Rajnish Sharma held the position of Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic Affairs), Chitkara University, Punjab from September, 2022 before joining at the current position of Vice Chancellor. He was responsible for developing various academic systems at Chitkara University, Punjab as per regulations received from UGC for implementation of National Education Policy 2020.
  • He has also held position of Dean (Research) at Chitkara University, Punjab campus and contributed immensity in successful drafting and implementation of various versions of Research Promotion and Incentives Policy
  • He has been the founder Dean (Academics) for Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh. He held the position of Associate Professor and Assistant Dean (Academics) from July, 2008 to July, 2009. While, he was promoted to the position of Dean (Academics) in 2009, he continued to be Associate Professor upto August, 2011. He became a full Professor in August, 2011 and continue to serve as Professor and Dean (Academics) for rest of his tenure at Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh.
  • Dr Rajnish Sharma served as a Faculty (Lecturer and Assistant Professor) at BITS Pilani from December, 2002 to July, 2008.
  • He has been a part of the team for conducting workshops on Examination Reforms for Faculty members of various states of India on behest of AICTE in year 2021. Besides that, he has also been delivering workshops on skills relating to authoring high quality research papers.
  • He is on panel of Accessors for NAAC and has conducted many visits in his assigned role as Chairman of the committee.
  • In his capacity as Senior member of IEEE, he remains associated very deeply with IEEE Delhi section in his capacity as an Executive committee member and also as a member of Standing committee for Technical and Professional Committee (Conferences). He has been assuming the responsibility of Secretary of IEEE Delhi section since last 3 tenures. Besides that, he also volunteers for ACM India initiatives by managing their technology part for Student Chapter Awards.
  • He has been associated with many of the technical conferences, very recently 2nd edition of IEEE Delhi section owned conference DELCON 2023.
  • He is also the organising chair for IEEE R10 conference TENSYMP2024 supposed to be held from 27th to 29th September, 2024.
