Dr. Mukesh Prasad is working as Assistant Professor of Physics at Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh. He pursued his Ph.D. degree in Physics from H.N.B. Garhwal University (A Central University), Uttarakhand. He also worked as National Post-Doctoral Fellow (N-PDF) in the Department of Physics at IIT Roorkee. He has executed a SERB-DST project (19.2 lacs) as Principal Investigator at IIT Roorkee as part of his postdoc. After completing postdoc, he worked at H.N.B. Garhwal University (A Central University), Uttarakhand as a faculty member on contractual basis.

He works in the field of nuclear radiation detection with a particular emphasis on environmental radioactivity. He has research collaborations with various premier institutes in India and abroad. He has visited Japan, United States (NASA), Germany & Taiwan to participate and deliver talks in International Conferences/Symposia. As on September 30, 2023, he has published 37 research papers in SCI journals and more than 30 papers as conference proceedings. He has guided more than 20 Master Projects. He has been a member of organizing committees of various national and international conferences and symposia.

In recognition of his excellent research, he has received various awards such as SERB-ACS NPDF Poster Competition Award by SERB & ACS, National Post Doctoral Fellowship Award by DST, Govt. of India, Young Scientist Award by International Geo Hazards Research Society in Taiwan and a number of Best Paper Awards in national/international conferences/symposia.

He is review editor of ‘Radiation and Health – Frontiers in Public Health’ and served as reviewer of several reputed journals of Nature Publishing Group, Elsevier, Springer, Oxford University Press etc.
