NSS volunteers revamp Anganwadi centre

Taking the NSS spirit to a higher level, our NSS volunteers from Chitkara University’s Himachal Pradesh campus went to a village and gave a face-lift to an Anganwadi centre that was lying just for the sake of it.

Before heading towards the center to refurbish it, the volunteers had done their groundwork of finding more about the centre, which was constructed in 1997. It had one room and a kitchen but no one ever used it and it ended up in a state of shambles due to sheer neglect.

Chitkara students took it up from here and tried to give the Anganwadi centre a face-lift. About 10 NSS volunteers, who are students of various engineering semesters at Chitkara University, along with some labourers provided by the university, went to the centre and did the needed repair work. The centre had not been renovated since it was made.

The centre looks much better now and people can use it as well.
