Faculty paper given ‘Best Paper’ award at Himachal Pradesh Science Congress; students display innovative project

Chitkara University, HP, participated in second Himachal Pradesh Science Congress (HPSC) 2017-18 at Shimla on Nov 20-21, 2017. Five student teams, comprising third-year and final-year ECE students, exhibited their innovative electronic projects in the event, which attracted attention of lots of students and faculty from various institutions attending the event.

At the Congress, research paper entitled “Revisiting texture zero ansatz for Yukawa sector in Standard Model” by Dr. Rohit Verma, Associate Professor, Department of Applied Sciences, Chitkara University, was selected for oral presentation and possible full length publication in Proceedings. The research paper was awarded “Best Paper” Award in the Physical Sciences Section of the Science Congress.

Dr V.K. Saraswat, Padma Bhushan, Padma Shri and Member NITI Aayog and Former Director General, DRDO, was the Chief Guest on the occasion.

The Congress was attended by nearly 400 participants from various institutions located in North India and among the participants the team from Chitkara was applauded and appreciated.

Display of the core technologies directly addressed the theme of the Congress for Science and Technology for sustainable livelihood. There were stalls on various technology aspects that influence our lives on a daily basis. The event was a great exposure for our team of students, who learnt a great deal.
