Dr Madhu Chitkara receives State Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Award 2017 from Virbhadra Singh

Chief Minister Shri Virbhadra Singh presented the State Environment Leadership Awards-2017 in a prize distribution ceremony organised by the Department of Environment, Science and Technology, Himachal Pradesh. Dr Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, HP, received the Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Award 2017 for excelling in the promotion of environment conservation and sustainable development through inspiring and exemplary initiatives, vision and transformative action.
The CM also unveiled the book “Compilation of best practices on environmental excellence”. The publication is a compilation of the best practices adopted by awardees for a protection of the environment and has the potential to show the path to others.

Institutions like urban local body, hospitals, hotels or resorts, academic institutions, schools, office premises, industries, panchayats, resident welfare societies, restaurants, bus stands, railway stations/airports, were considered for the award. It is indeed a moment of pride that Chitkara University was considered for the award.
According to leading publications, the government has initiated ‘Himachal Pradesh Environment Leadership Awards’ to be conferred annually to recognise the exceptional contribution by institutions or individuals.
Chitkara University has been doing its bit since its inception for conserving nature and promoting greenery.
