Chitkara University Pays Tribute to Nation’s Heroes on the 77th Independence Day
With unwavering commitment to the ethos of “Nation First, Always First,” Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, celebrated the 77th Independence Day with fervour and patriotism. The event, held on the university campus, was a resounding tribute to the sacrifices of the freedom fighters and a celebration of the spirit of unity and sovereignty that defines the nation.
The celebrations commenced with the unfurling of the flag by Dr. Rajnish Sharma, Vice Chancellor, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh. The distinguished gathering included Dr. Ajay Sharma, Registrar; Prof. Meenu Khurana, Pro Vice Chancellor; Dr. Nitin Verma, Principal, Chitkara School of Pharmacy; faculty members and students. In a symbolic gesture of freedom, pigeons were released by the dignitaries, signifying the soaring aspirations of a free India.
The National Cadet Corps (NCC) cadets and National Service Scheme (NSS) volunteers marched in unison. A moment of pride unfolded during the Ranking Ceremony of Under Officers – Akshay Takshak, Lakshya Rana, and Rajkumar. This ceremony stood as a vivid testament to the unwavering dedication and indomitable discipline that are nurtured within each and every NCC Cadet.
A captivating cultural program followed, infusing attendees with a deep sense of patriotism. The air resonated with resonant chants of ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’ and ‘Jai Hind.’ The audience was treated to enthralling performances by NCC Cadets and students from various student clubs, including Stellar Groups, Naati Nation, Staccatos, and Euphony. Aviral and Praveen’s rendition of a patriotic rap song garnered fervent applause. An emotional portrayal by NCC Cadets, shedding light on the sacrifices and struggles of soldiers, evoked a shared sense of respect and gratitude for the valiant hearts guarding the nation’s frontiers.
The concluding moments of the event were marked by Dr. Rajnish Sharma, the Vice Chancellor, extending heartfelt Independence Day greetings on behalf of the esteemed Dr. Ashok K Chitkara, Chancellor, Chitkara University, and Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University.
In a concerted effort to foster environmental stewardship, the festivities culminated with a purposeful tree plantation drive conducted in the Kalam block. This symbolic act underscored the university’s commitment to sustainable practices and served as a tangible reminder of its collective responsibility towards safeguarding the environment.
