Chitkara University organizes an NSS Camp
Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh organized a seven days NSS Camp from April 8th, 2022 to April 14th, 2022. The Chief Guest for the first day of the camp was Harinder Kaur, Regional Director, NSS Regional Directorate, Chandigarh. She shared information regarding various opportunities that the Government of India offers to the volunteers. Mr. Rohit Kumar, Social Activist & Founder of Swarmani Youth Welfare Association, Chandigarh was also present for the opening ceremony. The volunteers showcased their talent through a number of Bhangra and Nati performances. They also took a pledge for “Catch the Rain” to conserve water for future generations.
The second day’s session revolved around discipline, punctuality, and role as an NSS volunteer. The key points of discussion were: “Presentations of the Problems and Solutions of The Adopted Villages”; “Team Activity to Make Good Things Out of Waste”; “Shramdaan in Kalujhanda” and a discussion on “Kerala and Goa in the Event of Cultural Exchange”. The third day’s session focused on the Cardboard chain training on “Leadership and Entrepreneurship” by Avinav Thakur and Thokchom Reagan Chandra Singh, Faculty from Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Youth Development, Regional Center Chandigarh. The session mainly included team spirit, acceptance, and leadership-based activities like Egg Pilot and Longest Connection among others.
The fourth day emphasized on “Swachhata Abhiyan” followed by a poster making activity, rally in adopted villages and a session with NSS AIumni which involved a cultural exchange activity discussion about the eastern state of “Mizoram”. The following day included sessions on “Mental Health” and “EQ and Empathy” by Akriti and Dr. Ruchi Sharma respectively. Additionally, an interactive session was also organized with Vaishnavi Raj and Deepali Maurya, Republic Day Camp Holders.
