Chitkara School of Pharmacy, Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, in collaboration with the Office of Student Affairs and the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), organised an expert session on “Artificial Intelligence for Metabolic Disorders: Enhancing Prevention, Diagnosis, and Management.” The session aimed to highlight the transformative role of AI in revolutionising the management of metabolic disorders such as diabetes, obesity, and thyroid conditions.

Dr. Narendra Kotwal, Director of Endocrinology at Paras Hospital, led the session, offering in-depth insights into how AI is reshaping metabolic healthcare. Dr. Kotwal discussed innovative approaches such as AI-based risk prediction models, which allow for earlier identification of patients at risk of developing conditions like diabetes and obesity. He emphasised how AI tools analyse biomarkers to enhance diagnostic accuracy and tailor treatment strategies based on individual health data.

One of the key topics explored during the session was AI’s ability to incorporate genetic factors into healthcare decisions. Dr. Kotwal explained how AI tools help healthcare providers predict genetic predispositions to metabolic diseases, making prevention and management more personalised and efficient. He also discussed how real-time data analysis using AI can monitor patients’ health, leading to more proactive and effective interventions.

The session also highlighted the role of AI in making healthcare more precise, predictive, and personalized. Unlike traditional methods, which often apply general treatments, AI allows for individualised care by analysing a wide range of data, such as genetic makeup and lifestyle factors. This enables healthcare professionals to offer more accurate and customised treatment options, improving patient outcomes.

The event proved to be a valuable learning experience for students and faculty, offering a glimpse into the future of healthcare. Chitkara University continues to lead the way in integrating advanced technologies into education, preparing students for the evolving healthcare landscape. The session underscored the importance of AI in enhancing metabolic healthcare and improving the quality of life for patients.
