Chitkara University Catalyses Innovation with Smart India Hackathon Preliminary Round
Chitkara University, Himachal Pradesh, demonstrated its commitment to fostering innovation by hosting a highly successful Intra-University preliminary round of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) under the aegis of the Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Ministry of Education, Government of India.
The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 35 dynamic teams, each showcasing their remarkable talent and problem-solving prowess. The core objective was to address real-world challenges posed by industries, NGOs, and Government departments, all of which were published on the official Smart India Hackathon portal. The problem statements spanned a wide spectrum of domains, including smart classrooms, language translations, heritage and culture preservation, cryptocurrency, and the application of blockchain technology, among others.
Chitkara University’s commitment to nurturing innovation and entrepreneurship was vividly demonstrated as these 35 teams embarked on a journey to find innovative solutions to pressing challenges. The event not only provided a platform for students to put their creative and technical skills to the test but also served as a testament to the university’s dedication to fostering a culture of innovation and problem-solving.

These 14 selected teams will now represent the university on a national stage at SIH 2023, where they will have the opportunity to showcase their innovative solutions and compete with some of the brightest minds from across the country.
