Chitkara University Himachal Pradesh organized Annual Inter University Sports Fest, Athlos’17

Chitkara University is always known for its vibrant student life and giving students a perfect platform to pursue their interests along with academics. After hosting North zone and All India Inter University Table Tennis Championship (Men & Women) 2017 under the aegis of Association of Indian Universities (AIU), Chitkara University now organized its Annual Inter University Sports Fest, Athlos on April 14-15, 2017 where students from 25 Universities/Colleges participated from North India. The fest was inaugurated by Mr. Gurbaksh Singh Sandhu, Boxing coach of India, man behind Vijender Singh who won bronze in boxing at Olympics,2008.
The campus bloomed with participants from various universities who participated in sports events like Badminton, Volley Ball, Basket Ball, Table Tennis, 7-A side soccer and displayed their talent and left no stone unturned to win the games.
Thrilling battle of Badminton saw Chitkara University, Punjab Men’s Team crowned winners and Chitkara University,HP runner up and MIT University won in Women’s team while Kurukshetra University were runner up.
In a nail biting match of 7A side soccer Men’s Team from Thapar University Bagged the winner’s trophy and Chitkara University,Punjab were the runner up.
In the basket ball, Women’s Team from NIT, Jalandhar were declared as winner’s and Chitkara University, HP were the runner up and in Men’s team Chitkara University,HP were the winner’s whereas JP Solan were the runner up.
The stirring match of Table Tennis saw MMU, Mullana winning among Men’s Team and Chitkara University,Punjab were runner’s up and in women’s team Chitkara University, Punjab bagged the winner’s trophy while Chitkara University, HP were the runner up.
In the gripping match of volleyball, Men’s team of Maharaja Agrasen University were the winners and Baddi University was declared as runner’s up whereas in Women’s team the winners were Baddi University and runners up were Maharaja Agrasen University.
All the teams on the campus enjoyed the unbeatable hospitality of Chitkara University. A special evening was organized for all the participants where Dhruv Angrish Band performed live and participants made memories they would cherish lifelong.
The teams were awarded and felicitated by Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro- Chancellor Chitkara University and cash prize worth Rs 2 Lac were distributed. She addressed the budding sports stars of India and wished them luck for the future.
Chitkara University witnessed participation from professionals who have played tournaments and thus leading to increased level of competition. The event was a grand success under the mentorship of Mr. Anil Rana,Assistant Director Sports.
